A Very Nineties 💿 Three Tune Tuesday Producer Spotlight with Dave Jerden! 🎸 Picking Tunes From Records Produced By Dave All From The Nineties! Alice In Chains! Social Distortion! The Offspring! & Bonus Tunes! 🎶

Happy Three Tune Tuesday friends! I’m continuing my Producer Spotlight series & today picking all my tunes from rock producer Dave Jerden. Most his albums were nineties rock records like both the 1990 & 1992 Alice In Chains albums, he also produced rock albums the same years for Social Distortion two early nineties albums. I’m gonna stick to only one tune from each band so maybe I’ll bring ya more and bonus material this Friday for my Nineties Friday post. But today it’s those two along with a tune from the Offsprings 1997 record Americana! The Kids Aren’t Alright is my favorite Offspring song and I always thought it had a very Socisl Distortion vibe, no wonder since it’s the same producer!

Since two outta the three tunes are from the “Punk” scene, I’ll keep that vibe going for my bonus picks and do two tunes from two bands/albums that Dave also produced but they fight have the mainstream success bands like Offspring & Alice In Chains had. Enjoy!

Band - Social Distortion
Song - Story Of My Life
Album - Social Distortion (1990)

Band - Alice In Chains
Song - Would
Album - Dirt (1992)

Band - Offspring
Song - The Kids Aren’t Alright
Album - Americana (1997)

Bonus picks below came from same scene as the Offspring and have similar Pop Punk vibe. Lesser known for sure but good tunes. Just a note, MxPx said Dave was high by 2003 when he produced them and lost a step. He did drop off so maybe it’s true but not sure personally. What a great mix of nineties rock albums he did though! He produced two albums for all three main picks above, I didn’t wanna pick same band twice so I avoided covering or picking from same band but for all three both albums were awesome. I just discovered he produced the Red Hot Chili Peppers 1989 album too! I’ll cover the second record he did from each band above on Friday for my Nineties Friday post later this week. Come by if u didn’t get enough today! For now here’s two bonus picks below!

Band - Goldfinger
Song - Question
Album - Hangups (1998)

Band - MxPx
Song - Broken Hearted
Album - Before Everything & After (2003)

Thanks to @ablaze for running #ThreeTuneTuesday & thanks to all who dropped by! Come back next week for another Producer Spotlight! I’ll also do a deeper dive on Dave for nineties Friday in a few days, covering more nineties tunes & records he produced. Cheers!
