my night photography contest 9 entry: a lunar eclipse
tonight there is a solar eclipse here in Norway but it is too cloudy to view the low evening summer sun in the west-northwest so there is no point in going out and trying to view it. i have to wait until next time and hope for more favorable conditions then. meanwhile there was a nice lunar eclipse here last year, September 7 to be precise and the conditions were close to ideal for viewing. i took some shots with my S22 phone. it has a great zoom but shots of the moon are at or perhaps even beyond the limit to what i was able to take with any degree of satisfaction. that being said here are some shots of the eclipse as it progressed
the eclipse started while it was still light and the moon was below the horizon. when the moon rose it was in total eclipse and the norwegian september sky was not yet dark. i couldn't spot the moon never mind photograph it until after the total eclipse had progressed to the post-umbral stages. i took this first shot of the first sliver at 20.57.
then at 21.08

then 21.15

and lastly at 21.26

i would have loved to have the equipment to get better shots but must say i was satisfied enough with the result anyway.
A beautifully captured lunar eclipse against the dark night sky.
