entry smash 448
a while back i posted some shadows from inside the Seamen's Memorial Hall so today i am adding a few from the steps up to the entrance. the pyramid shape structure sits on a hillside just above the sea with a few sets of stairs from the sea side of the building. there's a walkway around all four sides of the pyramid at the entrance level. the raised height gives a commanding view of the sea and surroundings but i am not showing that here. it's better you go andd see for yourself.

instead i am presenting an interesting shadow pattern cast by the pipe railing onto the steps. earlier i and others have post display the curious effect that steps have on shadows, each one being unique.
what i like most about this particular shadow is that the 2 parallel railing pipes are placed the exact distance apart that when the sun reaches a certain angle ( and i stand in the right position) a checkered pattern emerges where the corners of the shadow of the upper pipe on one step align with a corner of both the upper and lower pipe on the step below it
i was standing at the top of the stairs looking down. i also like the fact that the shape of the shadows change with the upper steps closest me were tall rectangles but as the steps descend the rectangles become shorter and shorter. though much less noticeable, in reality the shadows also become thinner. the checkered pattern doesn't hold perfectly but the general impression still remains.
aren't shadows fun
