entry smap 256: a herring gull parent's duty

young birds in general, including seagulls are notoriously hungry, always begging for more. and a good parent obliges as best they can. in case they might take a few minutes break the young gulls are sure to remind them with their actions and calls. it can get fairly noisy early in the morning when they wake up hungry as can be but these shots are from the afternoon and this one is still begging for more- and getting it. most likely this is the mother gull. while male gulls are very active feeding their chicks before they fledge, after fledging the females do most of the feeding

it won't be long though before this immature gull has to find it's own food and the parents can relax more
