entry reflections 295

last summer we were driving in western Norway taking in the wonderful mountain and fjord scenery. it's really quite nice. it rains a lot there which create are plenty of opportunities for water to find its way to the sea. many of the roads follow the fjord shoreline or a river valley so when the wind is light there are bound to be reflections to view along the way. and so it was in this case the river widened and slowed and since the was little wind the reflections were near perfect

this first shot is my contest entry. i really like how the mountainside slopes all the way down to the river. while the landscape is unquestionably beautiful and living in such a place has some great advantages but also considerable challenges. only recently have roads been built to connect small settlements with the rest of the community and beyond. earlier all transport was done by boat, and much still is.

even though the sun was not shining through the cloudy sky the detail on the water is particularly fine. while the electric power lines don't exactly add to the scenery i was quite surprised to see how visible their reflection turned out. had there been just a little more current and/or wind it would not be possible to include such detail in the photos that i took with my S22 phone
