entry monomad challenge: the driftwood stump
there's a tiny cove with a miniature pebble beach on the coastline of Larviksfjorden where a lot of driftwood washes up. much of the wood that originates inland is from old trees from the days of timber floating on the Lågen river that became waterlogged and sank or somehow got stuck. during seasonal floods some of this riverwood gets freed and flows with the river until it reaches the fjord. due to the currents, tides and winds some of the wood washes up in this particular cove. there's a great variety of ages, forms and colors that make each piece unique but there's one piece in particular that stands out for me. it's a stump rather than a log so clearly it was not intentionally floated for it's value as lumber. with it's magical mysterious appearance it surely has it's origins from deep in the forests where the trolls still dwell.
