Where do we Turn for Inspiration?
Although I have never been a huge fan of video content, I do have to admit that I admire those content creators who seem to be able to come up with something new to talk about every single day. Like clockwork they produce new content and manage to professionally produce and present it to their followers.
Mad respect!
Anyway, it made me think about the whole issue of inspiration and how we find inspiration and what it is that keeps any given person going (creatively), every day.
Confession time: Although I really did not enjoy being a technical writer nearly as much as I had hoped to, one of the things I really did like about it was that I was not the one responsible for coming up with what I was going to write about. Being a technical writer is pretty much a write-to-order situation where you know exactly what you're going to create. No creativity required. Which is also what ultimately it boring as frack for me.
As a blogger, I often struggle with what I'm going to write about on any given day. And sometimes I end up not writing anything at all because I just can't think of what it should be.

I've heard it said that the best content creators are often also voracious content consumers. And I do believe there's quite a lot of truth to that because many of my writing ideas are birthed from reading things elsewhere or listening to podcasts or something along those lines. Sometimes the ideas even come from some tiny 10-second snippet from a TV show.
Which, I suppose, is just further proof that there are no original ideas left!
I'm also well aware of that as a writer I tend to overcomplicate things. Perhaps that's a common trend for writers... in the sense that we get the false idea in our heads that in order for anybody to be even remotely interested in our words we have to create the "Great American novel."
But nothing could be further from the truth. Most people happen upon a piece of writing (or blog post) usually because they're either doom scrolling and you happen to say something that catches their eye, or they are researching some specific topic of interest.

I tend to fall in the latter category, mostly because I typically don't have time to randomly scroll through things. But even in the process of looking for information about a favorite hobby or getting gardening tips I can usually find the bits and pieces that can form the basis for my next article or blog post.
And, in a sense, that's where the magic begins to happen. You end up with a whole idea born out of something as simple as germinating seeds or a leaf falling on your table and it triggers something inside and all of a sudden you start exploring, at least in your mind.
Ultimately, I think that is what keeping a journal and blogging is mostly about: an exploration of sorts. We come across the glimmer of an idea and allow our minds to "run with it."
Most of my best articles have come into being like that, and are often offshoots of something completely different I had started on.

We just have to find the right triggers to get ourselves started on that exploration. And those triggers usually are found in our daily rounds of reading or in the world immediately around us.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful remainder of your week!
