Everyone Needs an Outlet
Introspection is not easy nor always obvious. It's easy enough to point out areas of improvement, flaws, etc., from the outside looking in. Looking inside, deeper, means we have to acknowledge we're not perfect, we never will be, and despite that we want to better ourselves.
Unconsciously, I knew I needed an outlet. Managing other people can be like owning cats. Sometimes you feel like you're herding them and it's an impossible task. Other times they appreciate you and it's the most rewarding feeling in the world. That causes a lot of pent-up stress and frustration. Before I realized that for myself, however, I saw that in my kids. At the end of the day, they still have a lot of pent-up stress and plenty of energy left that needs to be used.
My wife and I decided with winter coming, they needed a place to expend this energy, and not on the living room floor where they'd risk hurting each other and themselves. We decided to sign them up for an indoor trampoline park that has a ball pit, playground, obstacle course and mini zip line course. It didn't take long to realize we should've done this sooner.
That's my 3-year-old visible in the picture. My 6-year-old is lurking, hidden in the ball pit, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting travelers. 😆
My youngest decided he needed to build a house out of foam blocks so he could sit and think for a while.
Looking Inward
When I saw this working so well for my kids, I realized I hadn't done the same for myself. Sure, I play some games on my phone after work, but that's a mental distraction rather than a true outlet.
Over the past few weeks, I've started writing more on Hive. As I do this, I feel less stress. Writing is my outlet. Whether I write about gold, silver, something fun, good or bad, I enjoy it and it's a means to pour out my thoughts. With the added stress of Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up, I'll need all the stress outlet I can get.

Looks like a fun time! Winter can be rough with not being able to get out and burn off that energy in the colder climates.
Yeah, they had a blast! I especially like this location because they have laser tag. When the kids get older it'll be even more fun! 😁
