10 Weeks Left: My SlothlySavers 2026 Goals ✨ Financial Independence ✨

My ultimate goal has always been financial independence. In the beginning, I often confuse financial independence with ‘never working again’. But the idea is having enough savings and investments that I can make life decisions without being controlled by the next paycheck.
Not to confuse ✨ financial independence ✨ with “never working again”
Being financially independent means having freedom. The freedom to rest. The freedom to learn. The freedom to help others. The freedom to walk away from opportunities that don’t align with my values.
This sloth doesn’t dream of doing nothing.
I dream of having enough freedom to spend more time doing the things that matter the most.
I still want to work on my dreams. I just want the freedom to pursue them at my own pace. The difference is that I want to work on them because I choose to, not because I have to.

What are some of the things to do as a Slothly Savers Club member? I’ve compiled the following from reading the weekly club announcements and member sloths’ posts. This way I’ll be sure to remember to complete all of them, or at least a majority of them.
Set a main savings goal for the year.
Set a secondary goal for an additional challenge.
Save consistently, no matter how small the amount.
Check in on the weekly #SlothlySavers post
Share my progress in the comments.
Report any Hive Power growth, HBD savings, or other milestones.
Publish occasional update posts and link them in the weekly thread.
Engage with and encourage fellow Slothly Savers Club members.
Stay accountable by tracking progress regularly.
Following the #SlothlySavers advise, I’ll focus on steady and sustainable growth rather than quick wins, and celebrate milestones and enjoy the journey—with my volcano sloth Lavadrip of course.
I've made Lavadrip the theme of my posts across SlothBuzz and across Hive. I turned My Sloth into a Lava sticker and will post it here and there.

Main savings goal for the year
Now it’s time to set up my goals for the year 2026. It’s already the middle of October! We’re entering week 42. This means I have only about 10 weeks left to achieve my yearly goals. And I’m too sloth to start from scratch.
I searched for posts on what goals and strategies other bee Hivers have tried, tested, and recommended. And I am forever thankful for the 🐝 bee Hivers that have made them available online for other lurkers like me to learn from:
The 5-500-5000 formula (+ AIDA) is the proven strategy of making 5 comments a day to create visibility, 500 followers to create trust, and 5,000 Hive Power to create long-term influence posted by @jongolson.
Thrive on Hive🍯 This is a long-term growth strategy focused on reaching 1,000 Hive Power first, and then 25 Hive per day through consistent participation, meaningful engagement, continuous learning, and regular content creation. It was also launched as a challenge by @jongolson back in 2022.
SMART goals and newbies initiatives. All the nitty-gritty marketing details about creating Specific Measurable Attainable Relevant and Time-bound plan for noobs, along with helpful tasks set by @newbies-hive from Hive Learners.
I’ve long been interested in joining the Hive Learners community but haven’t had the chance to work on the vetting process they’ve installed to become a verified member yet.
I encourage you to check them out if you’ve got the time.
But wait, what are savings on Hive and how do they work?
I have to admit that this was very, very confusing at first. We’re presented with two options on the Hive account: staking and savings, but these two options don’t seem to work the same way with the two currencies, which are HIVE and the Hive Backed Dollar or HBD.
For HIVE, staking is powering up, turning HIVE into Hive Power or HP, providing an APR of between 4.54% and 15% ~ depending on our curation activities. Meanwhile, saving HIVE simply secures it away, without any returns.
For HBD, savings is staking, providing a 10% APR (as of October, 2026).
Both HIVE and HBD savings is subject to a 3-day waiting period.
The state of my account on Hive at the time of writing:
| Liquid | Staked | Delegated | Savings | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HIVE | 16.439 | 64.626 | 0.000 | 0.000 |
| HBD | 0.007 | 1.200 | - | - |
After careful considerations, I’ve come to the conclusion that the realistic goal for me is to aim for 150 HIVE and 15 HBD savings by the end of this year, or December 31.
That's 72 more days.
I’m already committed to powering up 1 HIVE per day throughout October, which I will try to maintain throughout the remaining year. Based on that habit alone, I am on track to finish the year with roughly 138 HP.
This goal feels ambitious enough to be meaningful while remaining achievable if I simply continue with the systems I already have in place and then some.
A secondary goal: become a Hive ecosystem explorer
I also want to build a deeper understanding of the Hive ecosystem by accumulating and tracking a small collection of community tokens. By holding and earning these tokens, I can better understand—and better explain to those who ask—how various communities reward participation and which ecosystem best align with our interests.
I have no set goals for each token, but I will be tracking them here. Not all of them to start with, only the ones I’m using regulary, such as SLOTHBUZZ, ALIVE, BBH, POB, WAIV, and tokens like LEO and PARANORMAL.
AFIT
I’ve started accumulating AFITs from using their mobile app and participating in challenges. I’d like to try and accumulate enough AFITs to start earning AFITs from my Actifit post. Currently I’m posting there regularly and reaching most of my daily goals, but I’m not earning any AFITs yet from my post. To start earning, I need to have at least 5,000 AFITs in my wallet.
Hive rewards arrive at different times, comments pay separately from posts, tips and curation rewards accumulate gradually. Rather than reacting to every fraction of a HIVE, I think I’m going to start reviewing my account once a week, probably on Saturday.
The first commitment is to power up 1 HIVE per day. This is my “pay yourself first” rule. It ensures that my HP continues to grow regardless of market conditions or post performance.
After that, I look at whatever has accumulated since the previous Saturday and divide it following this guideline:
70% toward future growth (additional power-ups when appropriate)
20% toward HBD savings
10% flexible liquid = SLOTH FUND
🦥💚🐝Money I can spend today without harming tomorrow.
I’ve named it Sloth Fund, with respect to the #SlothBuzz community hosting #SlothlySavers Club. Sloth Fund is just the fun and lifestyle fund I keep for things that make the Hive journey more enjoyable, like games, HE token experiments, maybe buying small amounts of community tokens, contest entries, digital collectibles/NFTs, coffee money, hobby spending without the guilt.
Community goals: followers, commenting, and gaming
I currently have 406 followers on Hive. The goal is to stay visible and grow my follower count to 500 to build trust, based on the Thrive on Hive cheat sheet, this has proven to be doable. But my goal is not simply to increase that number.
I have no specific strategy for this, except to continue doing what I’ve been doing through the communities I’m a part of. In order to help me track my main goal, I will be using the hashtag #slothfund, and as a Hive ecosystem explorer I will start using the #redfishschool hashtag.
✨Thank you for your support and for welcoming me into the community✨
I’ll be posting more on this on my Newsletter.
Currently I’m playing Rising Star, Hive Grove, Syndicate Protocol, Hive Town, and trying out my luck with the mini games in other frontends. Hopefully I can accumulate enough Sloth Fund this month to try out the Sloths Mining War.
Slothly Savers Strategy
Firstly, I will put the proven strategy from the Thrive on Hive challenge cheat sheet to work and basically try to:
Show up every day
Create content consistently
Comment thoughtfully at least 5 daily
Engage with others through genuine conversations, upvotes, and community participation
Practice DCA (through regular power-ups and savings)
DYOR and continue learning about the Hive ecosystem
On their own they appear small, but together they become a system. And systems beat motivation every time.
🍯 Daily consistency > 🍯 Weekly allocation > 🍯 Monthly review > 🍯 Yearly compounding
Secondly, I am developing a sort of achievement system that consists of a set of milestones to prove that I’ve understood how the ecosystem works, to track what I’m collecting, and to share my activities with the community. I’ll elaborate more on a different post.
But this is just to help me organize my thoughts and track my milestones in a more structured way. I tend to overcomplicate things, so hopefully this will help me stay true to My Sloth 🦥
And finally, to sum up..
By 31 December 2026, I aim to grow my Hive account from 64.626 HP to 150 HP (or more!) and increase my HBD savings from 1.2 HBD to 15 HBD through a system of daily and weekly habits. Every Saturday, I will review my earnings and allocate strategically using the 70%-20%-10% principle. Alongside my main goal, I will track community tokens such as SLOTHBUZZ, ALIVE, BBH, POB, PARANORMAL, WAIV, and LEO, documenting at least one earning method and milestone for each ecosystem. Success will be measured not only by reaching 150 HP, 15 HBD Savings, and 500 followers, but also by developing the knowledge, relationships, and habits needed to compound my Hive journey over the long term.
🦥Congratulations everyone for completing this October's PUD, and Happy Power Up Month!
