Novermber 2023 Hive Power Up Day and some thoughts on my November crypto earnings

It's Hive Power Up Day - the last one of 2023 !

I thought I'd end the year in style, so when the bee in the screenshot below appears it should be a decent sized one.

I powered up 375 HIVE, which is one of three power-ups over 100 HIVE I've done this year.

Coinbase and Their Evil Shenanigans Hurt My HPUD

The original intention was to power up at least twice the amount I did. But Coinbase decided to lock my account for no known reason, so the LTC I was going to on-ramp into more HIVE are stuck in limbo for the foreseeable future.

I like Coinbase because their Advanced Trading has some of the best fees I've found in the UK so far, but everything else about them sucks. They definitely seem to "mysteriously" block or delay transfers any time the prices swing in a way that disadvantages them. Time to find an alternative....

My Crypto Earnings for November

My November crypto earnings were almost entirely from Hive, and look like this;

I've got a couple of thoughts and comments on these numbers...

The Publish0x numbers may look a little odd, it's because they recently dropped AMPL and SPOT as tipping tokens and adopted OP. Existing balances were transferred, so I've shown the OP figure as the total at the end of the month, with the conversions figure being the transferred previous earnings. I really should do more on Publish0x !

The KCS bonus is pretty derisory. I haven't got a huge amount on there, but the API is down below 1%, so I think I'd be better off taking the fees hit and moving it somewhere with a better return. Although HBD is tempting, I want to at least try to maintain some diversity in my portfolio.

The US dollar has crashed relative to British pounds, with the exchange rate going from 1.22 at the beginning of the month to 1.26. It helps my purchasing power, but is starting to hurt the value of dollar-based stablecoins (including HBD). If the exchange rate had been unchanged, my HBD earnings would have been £32.98, which is a noticeable difference. But the 20% interest on HBD means it's still worth holding !

Of the Tribe tokens, LEO and EDS are performing well. I only track individual Tribe tokens once I've got a reasonable amount of them. This is the first month I've started tracking SLOTHBUZZ so the earnings also reflect a couple of previous months of quietly accumulating them at a slow rate. SLOTHBUZZ has impressed me so far because apart from one brief period it's held it's value well. It's no guarantee of what the future looks like, but I see it as a good sign.

Hive Engine has been struggling massively with reliability for a few weeks, and Leo Threads seems to be mostly offline or glitchy right now. Hopefully those are problems which will get sorted out soon, which in turn will hopefully be reflected in the LEO price.

This November Compared with November 2022

Something I also did was look at a quick comparison with November 2022. At that point HIVE was £0.3093, so not too far off what it is now.

In November 2022, my crypto earnings were £39.28, with £35.84 of it coming from Hive. So the improvement over the course of a year is rather nice !

A lot of it comes from curation; November is the busiest month of the year in my "real world" job, which can leave me quite exhausted and not up for posting too much. I've managed to post a lot more this November compared to last, although the earnings per post are much lower - something I'll need to investigate.

Living in the UK, £79 of crypto earnings is a nice pocket-money side hustle, and all of it is re-invested to help future growth. But in some parts of the world, £79 a month represents a serious chunk of the average monthly salary. Pulling just half down and pushing the rest into more HP and HBD could make a significant difference to someone's life. My goal for next year is definitely to keep growing my Hive earnings to the point where it gets closer to a decent investment with income potential.

So that was my HPUD... how was yours ?

Thank you ! Most of the power-up was just a lump of fiat I bought and converted across, then sat on ready for HPUD. I think of it as giving myself an early Christmas Bonus 😀

With Slothbuzz, it's a couple of months' worth because it's the first time I've started actively tracking it. Mostly it's just been a case of tagging posts with it, plus occasional posts in the Slothbuzz community when I can find something appropriate, and engaging there when I remember to. What I like about it is that the token has a decent price and (more importantly) seems to be mostly holding a peg of some kind even though they never actually describe it as any kind of stablecoin. It's an actively managed community, and I reckon there is a lot more good stuff about it I haven't yet discovered.
