Everyday Corruption in a Country Under Civil War

I think corruption is everywhere, but it's more common in some places than in others. The corruption has been spreading in Libya since the Civil War started in 2011, when the so-called Arab Spring hit us.

Whether you thought Al-Gaddafi's rule was decent or evil, it's hard to argue that the current situation isn't worse. Whether economically, socially, or even morally, we've been on decline ever since.

Even if our Civil War is mostly a Cold War with more politics than skirmishes. Actual battles are infrequent, and neither side wants to harm civilians. The war has cost many people dearly!!

The corruption on many sides of the government is widespread, and the authorities that are supposed to stop it are all busy with the war stuff.

The worst part, many people in higher-up positions are getting paid in USD, while we normal people are being paid in LYD cash! This is a problem because USD is very valuable in the street black market, which puts our Libyan Dinar at an even greater disadvantage.

Road Redevelopment Corruption

A few years ago, a road near my area was redeveloped for cars.

The authorities responsible for executing the project asked the government for millions of dinars, waaaay more than it should be needed. But the higher-ups still used cheap materials and pocketed the money difference for themselves.

If they used such money responsibly, we could've had the most beautiful and clean roads in the world!

A few years later, that road is terrible to drive on again.

The higher-ups were all in agreement about this, (the ones who were against it were silenced, probably), so we normies can't do anything about it.

The worst part? Since many people are complaining about the road again, it'll probably be redeveloped to fix the issues we're facing now! That'll cause the same thing to happen, again!! We'll be We're stuck in a loop where every 5-9 years, the country's resources are drained, and the "city redevelopment" higher-ups pocket even more money!!

The only way I see out of this, is that the war ends, and (a strong) government becomes free to deal with its inner #corruption again. I heard someone in law saying "We record all of their abuse" when asked about those who abuse their power in the government. I believe they just can't do anything about it now... Maybe I'm too optimistic.
