What's this, how does it work?
Here is a short summary of the game on the top of my mind !INDEED. 😅
You pay 1 HIVE to join a Round (where each Round lasts for 7 days).
The in-game currencies are Honey, which is used to buy/upgrade most things in the game, and Honeycomb which is used to attack and defend against other players.
You buy Bees to increase Honey production, and Sloths to increase Honeycomb production.
You use HIVE tokens to buy many items in the game, such as high-level Sloths and temporary Boosts.
Don't hesitate to ask me other questions about the game! 🤗

Sloths Mining War

Check it out and let us know what you think!
I want to go "Pacifist" as soon as possible on your game, as I keep getting attacked whenever I have 250 Honeycombs despite other players being better targets in terms of Honey to be taken. 🤯
It looks I need to wait until the next round to be able to stop the production of Honeycombs on my game account, and the best I could take is get a non-withdrawable "refund" of the HIVE tokens that I have spent for each Sloth 🦥 in the Battle page of your game. 🤯 That non-withdrawable "refund" can only be used for paying for the next Round (which would still probably cost 1 HIVE) and paying for 2-hour boosts worth 1 HIVE each a craft forge, or a skip. 💸
!WEIRD !INDEED !PIZZA !HEARTBEAT !MMB
The game needs some PvP so it doesn't become 'stuck to screen 24/7' in order to get upgrades in the fastest time. Although I see why some players don't want to get overly involved in the PvP side either. All players will always have their 'starting' sloth, so PvP will be inevitable to some degree. You can send your honeycombs against the boss to ensure you stay under the 250 mark and therefore are not targetable.
Players with the 'least' honeycombs (over the 250 mark) are shown as 'easy targets'; although they might not be the best in terms of honey rewards, it allows the attacker to also lose honeycombs and go under the 250 threshold. So some players seems to be 'spamming' attacks at any target, not always the 'best' target.
Initially, there was no way to retrieve funds from sloth purchases; they were meant to be bought and kept. We felt we should offer a solution to people who change their mind, and the sloth burns give you a 25% bonus on your purchase price, which, as you say, can be used for entry/boosts for your next pacifist run!
It's also an interesting mechanic for the pacifist to grab a few sloths at the end of every round, cash them in for leaves and get more boosters in the next round. We hope it works for all strategies!
I understand that PvP would be fun for some players, but some players (like me) started regretting the choice !INDEED. 🤯 I would still like to play your game, but neither getting attacked nor attacking. 🧘♂️
I wonder why those players who repeatedly attack the same target(s) without gaining a useful amount of Honey just use their Honeycomb on the "Honey Thief". 🤔
I !HOPE that Sloths can be refunded after the current Round, like what was done during the previous Round. 🤗 It looks like 100% of the Honey used for those Sloths (especially the lowest level "Nap-O-Sloth") will get burned 🔥. 💸
I don't know good uses for "leaves" apart from using them as entrance fee on the next Round, or buying expensive 2-hour 10% boosts for 1 "leave" (or 1 HIVE) each. 🤯
!MMB !ALIVE !INDEED !BBH
We've had a few players suggest they'd like to avoid PvP, and we have some mechanics in place to allow this; it just requires more time spent dodging attacks by burning honeycombs. Need to try to find the right balance between Pay-to-win and play-to-win. Obviously the game is 0-sum, so if people don't spend and play, there would be no pots to win.
Whilst we don't want whales to be able to come in and ruin it for everyone, much like the dev currently could with his massive honeycomb stack. So we'll continue refining that balance as we move forward.
I'm not sure why players choose the strategy they do; it doesn't make sense to me, but then neither does not buying sloths for defence lol. Everyone has a different style, which is awesome to see, even at this very early stage of testing!
Yes, honey is burned; however, you will get the 1.25x of your Hive value if you nominate them to burn at the end of the round. So discounted entry/boosters and the ability to skip cooldown timers when purchasing perks.
Do you think the 10% booster is expensive? It lasts 2 hours and cannot be stolen; the other boosters cost at least double and could be stolen at any time...
I don't think that the game is zero-sum (because it can earn from posts and comments), though I would acknowledge that there is (very) little to be earned from first-layer Hive post/comment rewards. 🧘♂️
It can be a play style to buy very few Sloths as to avoid accumulating 250 Honeycombs quickly, then use the Double Drizzle Perk to snipe some Honeycombs from players with high Honey but less than 450 Honeycombs. 🤔 Otherwise, just buy few Sloths and use them against the "Honey Thief". 🤓
For people who want the "pacifist" play, the "leaves" won't be used for skipping timers on (Attack) Perks. 💸
While the other boosters can be "stolen" (bought) at any time, if a booster is "sniped" (bought) in less than 12 hours after it was bought by the previous owner, the buyer pays double and the seller gets a 10% profit. 🤔 In case nobody buys a booster within the next 12 hours after a player buys it, the 2/4/8 HIVE paid for it (which are the respective base prices) would be worth it. 🤓
Yes, I really think that the 10% booster for 2 hours that costs 1 HIVE (or 1 "leave") is expensive. 💸
!MMB !ALIVE !HOPE !INDEED !BBH
Yes, we hope the game can earn a little from posts, although I can't see it having much impact unless we become super Hive popular; then no doubt someone will take offence and start downvoting us to 0 lol
But it could also serve as a strong proof of concept for other games to get involved on Hive and earn by posting in-game stats and fostering conversations within the community! Who knows, maybe we can move away from Discord altogether!
I agree, you get better value by having the booster stolen, and just over half value returned if purchased after the 12-hour cooldown. Maybe we can look at changing the 10% in some way to make it more appealing; I'd hoped the extra 25% from burning sloths, along with their honeycomb-mining potential (which would carry over to the next round, meaning if you grab them at round end, next round you have a little starting defence), would be enough for a few uses each round. Maybe the 10% will be more effective at later stages of the game and therefore represent better value; we'll certainly monitor its use and evaluate the best approach to move forward.
I would really like for conversations to move from third-party centralized communications platforms to Web3 apps built on Hive. 😎
A "pacifist" on the game might not always stick to not raiding other players' Honey, as they can buy a few low-level Sloths to produce Honeycomb without letting them accumulate to 250, then use a Double Drizzle occasionally to steal lots of Honey from unsuspecting players (which the player can do only about once or twice a day). 🤔
I don't think that such "Worker Bee Boosters" (along with the "own worker bee booster") count towards the Top 10 ranking of the game, making them slightly less useful in this case. 💸🤯
!MMB !ALIVE !WEIRD !INDEED !BBH
Indeed, slothly and steadily we move towards Hive for more of our needs!
Yes, boosters don't count for your leaderboard position. This was a decision the Dev made; he believes it prevents bots from brute-forcing a win at the end of the game by sniping the boosters at the last second. Personally, I thought it should count for position. Either way, it does boost your honey rate, giving you quicker access to the next level/bee and therefore the ability to increase rank.
#PeakD Chat already exists for (somewhat secure) communication between Hive users, though is limited to text, images, and group conversations (no calls yet). 🤔
Any player knowing that the Worker Bee Booster can be sniped a few seconds before the end of the Round can simply buy less than 12 hours before the end to likely get profit. 🤓
!MMB !ALIVE !HEARTBEAT !PIZZA !BBH
Anyway, I realized that a player of your game buying only the "Nap-O-Sloth" 50 levels costs only 2 Honey each at the first level, costs no HIVE tokens, and can produce only 573 Honeycomb everyday (at the current Round's rate). 🤔 At that rate, other players will have only two opportunities per day to raid the player's Honey even if the player themselves hasn't played the game for a day or simply forgot about it. 🤓
!MMB !ALIVE !HOPE !INDEED !BBH
To add to my other comment, I noticed that nobody is buying the "Slumber Totem" Honey Sloth Booster which gives a 35% increase in Honeycomb production. 🤯 While it is in my possession, my Honeycomb production is fast enough that my account accumulates 250 Honeycombs quickly, where I would be vulnerable to attacks despite my Honey being relatively much fewer than the other players. 🤯 If somebody buys that booster from me, I won't buy it (or any other Honey Sloth Booster) back again on any Round (unless significant changes happen to the game which strongly discourages repeated attacks to the same player). 🧘♂️
!WEIRD !INDEED !ALIVE !MMB !BBH
Well, a 35% booster tends to increase your honeycomb production; the best solution would be more sloths!
Faster production, less vunerable to attacks, but as i mentioned in my previous comment, the pacifist route is to maintain under 250 honeycombs. I might snipe that booster off you in the meantime; I don't mind the boost! More PvP means more honey stealing, which means faster miner upgrades :D
I noticed that besides the possibility of getting attacked repeatedly despite the lack of Honey the attacker can take, there is also the chance that any other player I raid on the game would be disappointed (at me) because I took their Honey and destroyed all their Honeycomb. 🧘♂️
Anyway, that "Honey Thief" is a great way to burn Honeycomb, if not for its 10-minute cooldown on every use. 🐝
!MMB !ALIVE !HOPE !INDEED !BBH
I realized that I should !INDEED stop buying the "Wax Shield" Perk, which not only costs Honey but also makes it faster for other players to raid my Honey and destroy my Honeycombs repeatedly. 💸🤯🦥
!WEIRD !MMB !ALIVE !BBH
Indeed, it's a bit of a double-edged sword. It can be useful to stave off some attacks, as you'll end up with half your current loss, but it also leaves you vulnerable to another attack.
The Torpor shield gives you 8 hours of invulnerability. This is by far the best perk for defence! And I find the 'Double Drizzle' is excellent for stealing large honey stashes with half the honeycomb!
I will !INDEED use the "Torpor Wax" when I know I would be offline for several hours. 🤔 However, after using it, there will be 12 hours of cooldown. 🧘♂️
While I am online in the game, I can simply fight the boss every 10 minutes (with the optional help of a countdown timer) to prevent my Honeycomb from reaching 250. 🤔
!MMB !ALIVE !HOPE !BBH
I believe it's a 15min cooldown timer, the same as the PvP timer (for both attacker and defender). But yes, you can simply use your honeycombs before they get to 250 by either attacking players or the boss.
I hope that the game allows (temporarily or permanently) stopping the Honeycomb production of any Sloth right within a Round. 🤔 They are Sloths 🦥 after all! 🤓

Thanks for buying the "Slumber Totem" Honey Sloth Booster! 🤗
My Honeycomb production is now approximately 26% slower, making it harder for other players to raid my Honey frequently on the game because it takes longer for my Honeycomb to reach 250. 😎
Loving the new SlothBuzz token burn feature for buying Torpor's! Why has it made the market go UP though?!?! You burn 50%, sell the rest for Hive...and the Slothbuzz prices goes up?!?!
People need to start commenting on these posts and using #slothbuzz on Hive to earn some 'free' slothbuzz tokens to keep them safe whilst they sleep!

Yes !INDEED. 🤯 I keep getting raided when my Honeycomb accumulates past 250, even when I have only less than 150 Honey to be stolen. 🤯💸
!ALIVE !MMB !WEIRD !BBH
I think the starting of the round should pool instructions (encrypted) from everyone... and then execute... vs, real time "everyone trying to game the start time". Probably right now does not make much difference, but once people are joining around the world this will create an "disconfort" effect to the ones that don't understand this...
if there is some randomized way of preventing timezones to be in the way of starting the round... it coult help players to feel more confortable they way they want to start the round.
Honest feedback :D
Currently, for testing, we're using the round end as a reset time; however, we will poll via Discord to see when the best reset time would be. Maybe we make it a Monday evening 18:00 UTC, for example, or we could have it varying week by week, or we keep it with the current system of someone having to start it each week, which could eventually allow the time to slowly shift.
As we're still in the testing phase, everything is open to discussion, most of which happens via Discord, but I'm enjoying this new 'town hall' type discussion we can have in-game or via Hive!
yep yep, I was just suggesting. Obviously better to reach out to the community for more opinions. You can also run a poll on Hive :D Or add integration to the chat you already have in the game. Having all these integrated makes super sense to me.
As another note, we also changed the mechanics of buying Bees slightly, so that their costs increase with purchase, so it's not just a case of buying the bees in order in the fastest time; there is some skill required to ensure you can buy the 'best' bee for maximum benefit. We had some players starting later in the day and have made the top 10 with some ease, although I think we could still add a little more benefit to 'late' starters to try give them some way to catch up.
Yep, the balance may be found when not blocking the player's interest just because people don't start at the most time-convenient advantage.
If someone wants to play the "peaceful" way on the Sloths Mining War game, all it takes is to not buy any sloth from the "Battle" tab to not produce any Honeycomb. 🤔 Any player who has less than 250 Honeycomb cannot be raided by other players, making all their Honey safe from being stolen. 🧘♂️ It's only possible though for existing players on the next Round, or for new players. 🤯

Comments (both top-level and nested replies) from Hive bots (such as the PIZZA bot and the #HiveBuzz bot) should be hidden from the game's frontend (at https://miningwar.slothbuzz.com/#/round) to make the discussion section right within the game cleaner. 🧘♂️

Yeah, we need to clean up the feed a little; it's still a work in progress! It would be nice if bots didn't spam comments at all, to be honest, but we can't control that! We'll certainly look at cleaning up the in-game view if people are going to use the space as much as this! We appreciate it!
I !HOPE though that you don't call those token tipping bots and the #HiveBuzz bot as "spam" !INDEED. 🧘♂️ The PIZZA token tipping bot leaves only a maximum of one comment on any given post, and only edits such comment for every additional successful PIZZA token tipping command under the same post. 🍕 The #HiveBuzz bot's comments are encouraging, and when a Hive user publishes posts everyday, it is rare for the user to receive more than one reply from the bot on any post. 🧘♂️
