Mexico - The Many Colours Of Morelia
Hello there!
After a short break and consolidating my first edition of my Travel Diaries, which included my travel posts to 14 different countries, here's kickstarting my second edition of Travel Diaries! For those who are keen to read my the first edition, you can find them here.
I am actually quite excited to start this new country and new series of posts, because it's something that I wanted to do for quite some time, but I needed some time to tidy up my photos and organise my storytelling and places. And this new country is Mexico!
Back in 2009, I had the opportunity to go for a summer exchange programme to spend 7 weeks studying in an university in Queretaro, a small city in Mexico and that was one of my more memorable parts of my life! Going halfway across the globe from Asia, I didn't know much about Mexico so I went there with my eyes wide open, and ready to embrace the different cultures and experiences.
A few months before the actual trip, if you are old enough to recall, there was the H1N1 virus which was quite prevalent in the world, including Mexico, and the trip was almost cancelled. Eventually, the programme was postponed, and the situation got better and travel restrictions were lifted. Even so, many participants of the programme decided not to go ahead for personal reasons. Because this trip was such a rare opportunity, I made the decision to go ahead.
So let the adventures begin!
Here's the series of Mexico posts so far:

After Patzcuaro, we travelled to nearby city of Morelia. By the time we reached, it was late afternoon nearing evening but the good thing about summer is that the days are very long.
We checked into our hotel and then took a walk along the streets of Morelia to explore the city. The city was full of historical buildings and it was definitely interesting to see the history and culture in this unique city.
This is the Palacio Federal de Morelia, which is located near the historic city of Morelia, where most of the landmarks and buildings of historical significance are at.
In every city there would be places of worship, and this is one of the churches there. Just look at the architecture there! Simply amazing.
This is another church in the historic center as well. A slight different look but just as majestic and grand.
And finally we reached the main attraction of Morelia! That's Cathedral de Morelia, which is the biggest landmark in Morelia. Just look how big and how beautiful the cathedral is!
As it was also nearing dinner time, we managed to find a restaurant which offered this view and because the skies was turning dark very fast in summer, I managed to take the same view from the same spot every 10 minutes to capture the changes. After all, there were no AI or filters back in 2009. Hahaha. So which one did you like the most?
After a long dinner, we headed back to our hotel to rest. We still have another day ahead of us in Morelia, but in just a few hours of walking along the streets and looking at the buildings and architecture in the historic center of the city, there is no doubt why Morelia deserved this UNESCO award.
And that's all I have today! Have you been to Morelia or Mexico? Let me know in the comments below!

It must have been really nice catching those long summer evenings while walking around Morelia after checking in. The detail on the Palacio Federal de Morelia looks quite impressive from your walks.
The architectures are so stunning, especially with those lights!
