Introvert Talks - Light At The End Of The Tunnel

"Introvert Talks" is meant to be a new initiative or theme, where I myself as an introvert, just talk about reflections and thoughts about my life, or maybe share more personal stuff. :)
This is my weekly post under this "Introvert Talks" theme and let's see where it takes me and us.
Some journeys don't end with excitement, they end with relief.
Time flies - it has been 2 months since my I fell and injured my knee. (If you want to know what happened, you can refer to previous entries.)
Anyway, this is probably the final update (hopefully) on this unpleasant episode. So earlier this month, under the referral by the doctor, I went for the MRI scan to check on the extent of the injury. Yesterday was the appointment to see the doctor to review the MRI scan report.
I think I am a worrier by nature so I didn't want to have any expectations while I was waiting for my turn. Fortunately, the MRI scan report revealed that the injury was less severe than I had thought. That said, I still suffered from ligament strain and bone bruise, which thankfully, can heal on its own over time, and I don't need any surgery or further treatment.
Being an avid user of AI, I also asked AI to review the report and simplify it to me, since most of the terms used are medical terms so the terminology can feel foreign to most layman. Anyway, here's the output (in italics), which is pretty much consistent with the doctor said, so that's reassuring.
Great news overall — this is a very reassuring report.
What it found:
1. Mild MCL sprain
The medial collateral ligament (inner side of knee) has a mild sprain
Importantly — it's a sprain, not a tear
MCL sprains are very common knee injuries and heal well conservatively
2. Patellar contusion with swelling
The kneecap area has mild swelling/bruising (oedema) from the impact of your fall
This is essentially a bone bruise — explains the tightness and stair difficulty perfectly
Heals on its own with time
What it did NOT find — the important part:
✅ Menisci completely intact — no tear
✅ ACL and PCL normal
✅ Lateral ligament intact
✅ All tendons intact
✅ Cartilage normal — no damage
✅ No fluid inside the joint
Summary in plain English:
You bruised your kneecap in the fall and mildly sprained the inner knee ligament. No structural damage, no tears, nothing requiring surgery. Everything important is intact.
I guess I will continue to be more careful and let time slowly heal my injury.
This whole episode has been around two months, and I think it has definitely affected me both physically and mentally. But as someone once said, "don't let a crisis go to waste", so there are definitely lessons to be learnt from this, and since it happened, what is more important is that I get takeaways and become a better and stronger person.
As they say, tough times don't last. Very thankful this episode ended on a positive note and I am looking forward to August and the rest of the year. More trips. More me time. More time for personal projects. More matcha! So yay! :)
