The Golden Rule ~ Read, Read, Read! ๐

Hello hello Hive fam it's @tengolotodo writing today for @mmonline.
Iโm writing today from my alt account, @mmonline. For those who don't know me, the person behind this account is @tengolotodo. Iโve been navigating the Hive ecosystem for four years now, and Iโve seen many users come and go.
Today we are sharing our experiences and hopefull giving some insights to new Hivers ...
Tips for New Hive Users
Whether you are here to earn, share your passion or even build a brand like us, then you need to realise that Hive blockchain is a marathon, not a sprint. Based on my journey, here are some of the most important nuggets of advice that I can give to anyone just getting started.
The Golden Rule ~ Read, Read, Read! ๐
Offline I am a massive believer in thinking before you speak, listen before you open your mouth... So it is no surprise that our biggest tip for every newcomer is simple...๐๐๐
Read everything before you write a single word or cast a single vote.
You need to understand the Blockchain... Hive is immutable. Once you press "publish," your words are there forever. Deleting them does not make them vanish, they are still there for anyone to see. So make sure you are 100% sure of what you are going to do because it will always be there!!!
Learn the Mechanics... Before you start voting, understand how Hive Power and curation rewards work, and understand what you are voting on! Voting randomly without reading can actually hurt your reputation and growth.
Ask for Help Hive is not easy!!! If youโre confused, ask! I cannot stress this enough!
Reach out to the person who introduced you to Hive and ask for a live demo. It is much easier to learn by watching someone else navigate the interface.
Start with a Strong Introduction ๐
Once youโve done your reading, your first move should be a proper Introductory Post.
Tell us who you are, what you love, and what you hope to achieve here.
Use the #introduceyourself tag so the community can find and welcome you.
Find Your Tribe/Community ๐ค
Donโt try to be everywhere at once, don't spread yourself too thin.
Pick 2 or 3 communities that truly appeal to your interests.
Must Do... Read the specific rules of each community before posting. Every group has its own culture and expectations.
Meaningful Engagement is King ๐
This is the "secret sauce" that many people miss. In my eyes, reblogging and voting is NOT engaging...
Initiate Conversations ~ Go to a post, actually read it, and leave a thoughtful comment. Ask a question or share a relevant experience.
Build Relationships
Meaningful comments are what start conversations and turn "users" into "followers" and friends. They are what makes Hive fun, and remember when something is Fun then you want to be there!
Quality Over Quantity
One thoughtful comment that starts a dialogue is worth more than fifty "Nice post!" spam comments. It is very hard to establish your reputation and presence but it is fluffing easy to be trashed in an instant if you spam or do things wrong!
Be Original
Use your own words and use your own pictures. For example the lead image and thumbnail to this post was taken by me the author.
Don't cheat, don't plagiarise and be very careful how you use AI!
My Final Thoughts
Hive is a community-driven platform. If you show up with a desire to learn and a willingness to talk to people then I believe you will find your place. So try to strengthen the community by being an active, reading, and talkative member that participates in initiatives!
Happy Hiving!
What was the most confusing thing for you when you first joined Hive? Letโs talk in the comments!
Note this was a response to the Indiaunited new contest and last contest results post with the โTheme-:โTips for New Hive Users: Share Your Experience So Far"

Totally awesome advice ! This should be compulsory reading few new Hivers, and a regular reminder for "old hands", so I cross-posted it to the BusyBees community ๐
Thank you and I should really ask to join BusyBees!
Beautiful
Wow, this coming from you is so fluffing awesome. Grandpa Brad would often say "fracking awesome sauce" ๐
Hive indeed is a marathon and if you slack, you'd be left behind. !LOLZ
And your point about reading before publishing, engaging or up voting is spot on. I've come across users who got into some trouble cos of their comments. Like we'd say here "if you don't have any meaningful thing to say, just waka pass or better still, mind your business." This would really prevent you from stories that touch.
This is another great post I've read today.!LUV Thanks for sharing this, Tengo.

Hehe thanks luchyl!
Yes, my mother told me from an early age, if we don't have anything meaningful to say, although she phrased it as anything positive to say, then don't say anything!
Have a fantastic Friday luchyl!
Guess all mothers said the same thing. ๐ !LOLZ
Have a great one.
