my entry to reflections 276
it was a mild sunny February day soi took a winter walk by the sea. at one point i came across this shallow puddle on the rocky shore. the puddle was a mix of water and a thin film of ice. the wet rock had some algae growing on it so it was slippery but in spots it was bare. one with more knowledge than i possess of mineral geology could likely positively identify what kind of rock it is. i just saw it was mostly yellow with lots of black spots so i presume it is a kind of yellow granite. anyway, as the place was on the protected side of the fjord there was very little surf. that allows the forest to slope down almost all the way to the shore here with these rocks being the only thing before the water's edge. the branches of a winter bare tree above the rock were reflecting in the small pool. the thin film of ice on the surface of the puddle made a more matte reflection instead of a typical shiny mirror look that i would expect without the ice. it's not the prettiest of reflections but there's a lot going on that i find interesting in the images. something of an abstract expressionistic approach to viewing nature
