morning mist at the beach

i took all of these shots at Arawali Beach in southern Maharashtra near the border to Goa, India.

sunrise is a great time to take a walk on the beach. the cool fresh morning sea air is always pleasant and though some mornings such as this one are more misty than others the mist soon dissipates as the sun rises. the wind is usually light and the sea is most often calm early in the day so we keep an eye out for dolphins. most of the local fishing boats beach about a kilometer to the south. that's where we were headed. they venture out in the night and set their nets which they pull before dawn and are back at the beach around sunrise. the catch is split among themselves and whatever they don't keep personally is brought to the local morning market. there are usually a few folks out walking in hopes of buying some fish directly from the fishermen as they clean their nets. so we were not alone here.
