books have been written about the traditional wooden boats in Norway and there are many aspects worthy of publicizing. the various coastal districts all have unique designs developed over centuries adapted to the specific conditions of the district and the use cases for the boats. i have read enough of the literature to gain a deep appreciation of the traditions, workmanship and skills of the boat builders. in particular the local ones. and though there is no longer any commercial production, there are a number of enthusiasts who hold the traditional alive.

while the literature of the craft is impressively thorough, there is one aspect that to my knowledge is universally overlooked.
