.we tend to rely on photographs to be accurate representations of reality and while photographs rarely directly misrepresent reality sometimes they can be misleading. and sometimes intentionally so. one way is to leave out important elements and context that give a complete understanding of what is going on. it's a trick often used by for example press photographers with the intent of pushing a narrative...

but it can also be just for fun, for example shadow hunters such as myself may want to keep viewers guessing as to what is going on may choose to completely leave out or only partially reveal what is casting a particular shadow, especially an unusual one. for instance in the shots below i am not trying to deceive anyone, instead i would like viewers to complete the structure of the blue tubes and the angle of the sun in their own minds such that the shadows make sense. just for the fun of it.
