entry reflections 254: well water

we get our water from the front well. we pump water up to the tank on the roof for washing and bathing but for drinking and cooking we draw it by hand in copper bottles and carry it to the kitchen. some years ago a cat managed to fall into the well and it was very difficult to get it out. first we had to find somebody who could climb down and rescue the cat which was not easy. by the time the brave rescuer had climbed down the cat was in full panic and when the man finally managed to get the cat in the basket we sent down, it jumped out several times as we tried pulling up the basket. anyway we eventually got the cat out of the well and the next day ordered a steel framework to hold a cover in place. there haven't been any more incidents and the cover keeps out any falling leaves and twigs from the mango and cashew trees nearby. that steel framework is what you see reflecting in the wavy water
we keep the copper bottles on the kitchen counter, beside the window handy for cooking and drinking. one day while making food i noticed the a bowl of water reflecting the sky and a coconut frond. the bowl itself and the smaller of the two well bottles was reflecting on the seaweed green stone countertop. some other reflections were also going on to complete the image- part of the glass bottle with the remains of some coconut oil that was in the window to settle out any solids from the newly pressed oil appears behind the copper bottle. the window grills and sky were also reflecting on the countertop as well as on the green marble window sill. there's even an unclear reflection on the steel lid of the copper bottle along with some light reflecting in water droplets here and there. this image is my contest entry
thanks a lot
