I Protest! Even if You're Only Blowing Your Nose...
Seems to me that some people like to "make a lot of noise" no matter what is going on, and they do so relentlessly, even when their voices are utterly irrelevant, when taken in context.
I suppose some people would describe them as trolls, but I'm not sure that's an appropriate designation.
They are not really there to cause havoc and provoke a reaction... they just want to make sure that their very specific opinion about a very specific topic is heard, no matter what the context might be.
They are the ones who insist on screaming "save the whales" at the chess club meeting, even if people playing chess have zero connection to whales.
The sad thing is that they fully believe that they are somehow helping their cause by stating their case... but they are actually being such a source of irritation that people will not only go out of their way to avoid them, but might actively UN-support their cause just because their endless song-of-one-note protests are annoyingly shrill and irrelevant.
And somehow, they remain eternally blind and closed off to even the mere suggestion that their energies might be better used at an ocean fisheries conference than as a source of disruption for aforementioned chess players.
Which brings up the occasionally "touchy" subject that context does matter.
Maybe it's just a personal pet peeve, but those who just blatantly plow into something, even though they are irrelevant to the context of the situation, just annoy me to no end! It always feels a bit like someone passing out business cards for lawn mowing services at a funeral.
READ THE ROOM!!
It is almost as if they have been trained into the belief that being obnoxious is a positive trait!
On a different level, however, I can't help but think that this is actually a form of marketing laziness. You promote yourself to the people who are in front of you, simply because they are there rather than taking the time to promote yourself to the people who actually care about what you have to offer.
Perhaps this is simply an expression of so-called retardmaxxing, the latest new Internet gimmick, which encourages people to just take action without really thinking anything through because it's better than being stuck in overthinking.
Sorry, but we live in a world where the signal-to-noise ratio is already leaning far in favor of "noise," so having an extra channels of noise added to the mix is not eaxctly welcome... at least not from where I am sitting!
Perhaps part of where I end up taking issue with the whole thing stems from the fact that these load and disruptive voices are invariably negative and complaining about something... and often something that's unlikely to change because the vast majority of the world doesn't actually care.
But I guess the world will always have its challenges and annoyances... and it's up to us to deal with them as best we can!
Thanks for coming to visit!
