Saturday Savers 2025 Progress Report - Week 37

It's #SaturdaySavers update time ! I usually do it on a Saturday, so I'm running late on it this week.... it's just been that kind of week. But it's okay, I allow myself a bit of leeway sometimes 😁

How Did The Week Go ?

It's been a week of "real life" stuff, so I have to confess I haven't given Hive as much time as it deserves.

Although I'm slightly down on posting, I think the posts I have made have been good quality ones, and to me quality trumps quantity any day. While I'll happily upvote Actifit posts and things like that as a way to support my friends here, it's not something I do myself. Either Actifit, or moving around generally.... perhaps if they made an app called InactiFat I might qualify 😁 Go on @slothbuzz an app like this is right up your street. Oh wait, I see a fundamental problem with that idea 😉

I'm also slightly down on commenting, but I can live with that. Something I've tried to focus on is making sure that where my posts get a comment, I reply to at least the majority of those comments. It's only polite !

Apart from that, I've been very lazy on the Hive front. I'm watching the slow motion collapse of the US dollar with a little bit of concern. The pound is dropping as well, but not as fast as the dollar. I'm starting to think of moving some of my dollar-denominated assets into gold-backed ones. I'm not convinced any fiat currency is proof enough against manipulation and economic impacts. The reality is that the clue is in the name; fiat currencies are backed by nothing beyond the hope that the country issuing it will continue to have a stable economy and won't print money to get out of ever-increasing debt.

I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.

So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
