Earning $2+ Per Week Passively - My VPS Plan and Current Status
I've known about Bandwidth Sharing as Money Earning opportunity for a while now, but most options aren't available for my third world country. "What if I used a VPS?" This idea sparked a long conversation with AI that led me to this experiment... Did I succeed? Kind of...

Bandwidth Sharing is when you allow other users and companies to use your internet bandwidth for compensation. Think Honeygain/JumpTask or Grass App which can give you nice passive income if you live in a high-demand area... Most of Bandwidth Sharing platforms, however, require Residential IP Addresses, preferably in one of the countries in high demand. They use the internet to gather data for their partner companies after all, so IPs from low income countries, and datacenters aren't in demand and are usually blocked...
Knowing my location wasn't suitable for platforms like these is why I didn't pay them much mind...
Then I discovered Datacenter-friendly options!
While the pay is lower per GB, some bandwidth sharing platforms allow VPNs. You can find a list of them in Money4Band's github page... The demand/pay however is limited, and won't cover the VPS costs even in the high demand locations... So, I thought:

What if I found a cheap VPS server, and crammed a bunch of them in it? As long as my earnings out-profit my costs, it'll all be great. A quick research with AI made me reach the conclusion that with 5-7 different platforms on one IP, I can earn as much as $5-15 per month. It sounded like a cheat good idea!!
At first, the AI chatbot I was discussing the idea with encouraged it. But after a few conversations and fact checking I realized it may not be as good an idea as it seemed...
For one, you have to find a VPS server that's both cheap enough to offset costs while being on an IP address that's not limited by these companies. Also, since cheap VPS servers are all shared with other renters, your instance must be the only one that uses this strategy on that server! Since you can't know beforehand, it might be a gamble...
Still, since the lower-end of profit expectations is enough to cover the costs, I decided to test it anyway and bought some VPS server with a US address IP and registered on a few platforms provided by Money4Band...
I registered in:
Multi-Proxy VPS sharing
Datacenter IP addresses (almost all VPSs) earn less than Household IPs. They get less traffic, and are paid less per GB of traffic... To work around that, I found out that you can actually buy Residential IP Proxys, though, I quickly realized they're a 50/50 gamble!
Platforms like Grass App ban these paid IPs, and probably all associated accounts. While platforms like Repocket and Traffmonetizer treat these residential addresses as if they're datacenter addresses, especially if someone shared the IP with you (or had them before you) had these apps...
Proxy-cheap sells never-used-before dedicated IPs to solve this problem but they're expensive ($9+) and won't be worth it for this experiment.
So... How Much Did I Earn?
The earnings were less than ideal... First week is a warm-up period, so I didn't think much of it, but I was expected to earn $0.10+ daily from each by the second week... That didn't happen.
My biggest earner is Repocket which I managed to get $0.10-0.13 per day, but the other ones get me about $0.5 each right now. There are some outlier days in the two weeks and half I've been running, I got $0.16 one day on Traffmonetizer despite the $0.05 average... Combining all of my earnings, I got $3.2 in 18 days or so.
All in all, that's less than half the expected.
Is the experiment successful then? Depends. My verdict is that if you have a cheap enough VPS or a cheap Proxy Address, it's totally worth it. But it's hard to get a VPS that costs less than $4 for this setup.
I'll keep them running for another month, and see if it's getting better...
