Your analysis is woefully incomplete. You neglect that RT specifically is a media corporation whose value depends on views, as well to an unknown degree based on how they serve the interests of the Russian government in other ways.
That $300/day of upvotes is far more useful to generate followers, and would be enormously stupid to waste on self votes. Consider how a few thousand carefully placed upvotes between $.30 and $30 could create goodwill, and that measly $300/day of value attainable via selfvotes is utterly laughable.
Business is more than accounting, and society far more valuable than it's economy. How about you provide estimates of the value of each user of RT to the company (I can't even imagine how to represent the value government sponsorship provides RT, as, again, that value is far beyond monetary alone), and take a stab at estimating how many new users they could generate with such upvotes? That would be a far more realistic valuation of a $500k investment in Steem.
Mmm, I don't agree. Since the beggining, I'm agitating for the paradigm that the main focus should be on products, in this case - on news. As RT is producing good content that attracts 100.000 viewers on YouTube, it's highly unlikely that "bribing" steemians would make a difference. Especially if we keep in mind that monthly user base is less than 50.000. Steemit is still lacking basic functionality: ability to interact without the account, simple account creation and decent wysiwyg editor

Well, media enterprises are extremely dependent on goodwill for market share, and RT didn't come on Steem by accident. I don't think they need to drop a bundle on Steem and undertake outreach to create goodwill, however, because a lot of folks are going to create it anyway out of gratitude for the content that will imbue Steem with value. Further Ideological impediments to creating goodwill aren't likely to be addressed by such outreach either, so undertaking such expense doesn't have much to recommend it. Lastly, little on Steem dispels goodwill more quickly than serial upvotes, circle jerks, and similar profiteering. It would be beyond foolish for RT to drop a chunk on Steem just so they could selfvote $300/day. They'd lose ten times that in goodwill for doing so easily.
None of the flaws in Steem you mention specifically impact RT ops.
Generating goodwill on Steem isn't bribery, although you've probably encountered rank pandering that sought to mimic goodwill. Upvoting posts and comments relevant to your interests does generate goodwill, and conflating that with mere bribery is a bit churlish.

The information war is not happening outside, it is happening here and it's bringing along harassment and hate for people who are not monitoring others as closely as they are monitored!
RT may be closer to its clients now. But it's not doing the STEEM currency a favour.
If even one person buys one Steem because of RT, that would benefit the currency. Since it is probable that some RT followers will discover Steem because RT is here, that is a damn likely thing.
I get that you feel strongly that RT is state propaganda, and I find compelling arguments to support that feeling. However, what harm can an openly state-sponsored news outlet do by being on Steem that isn't already happening, and how can that harm Steem?
Regardless of whether or not I lap up whatever RT spoons out, I do not see that they can harm Steem by doing it here. On the contrary, I am confident that bringing their content here will be a great benefit to Steem, and we bloggers who will have that content to discuss more thoroughly, which will better enable people to grasp facts on issues that propaganda outlets deliberately misrepresent.
Your comments here seem to be fearful that RT, instead of proving that they are propagandists and only mislead people, will show that they speak the truth, and gain support for opponents of organizations like CNN, who repeatedly prove they blatantly lie, make things up, and do so to manipulate people for profit.
Anger is the child of fear, and you seem angry about RT. I am not their lapdog, and if there's good reason behind your feelings, I would benefit from knowing what they are. The anger you're expressing has more than once in your comments on this post crossed over the line of reason, and this piques my interest because it reveals the truth about liars. If you don't want to inadvertently reveal such truths, you'd do well to forthrightly and lucidly express the valid reason for your fear.

I don't really understand any of this. But RT News is the most uncensored big news platform out there today. Yes, it's sponsored by the Russian government, so it has pro-Russia bias, but how is that any worse than Western corporate media? Corporate media engages in constant distraction and political theater, at least RT covers real issues that matter to most people. They got footage of Assange being carried out of the embassy, was that garbage?

Good questions. I imagine RT isn't banking on the 'income' from post upvotes. It's already significant, I'm not saying otherwise (I'd love to make several dollars, several times a day). But their motivation is perhaps more political and strategic.
The dollar figures are definitely insignificant right now, but in a world where people are still highly reluctant to pay for news or journalism, STEEM (and eventually SMTs) is an interesting alternative business model.

Something that is significant that may be a factor is that in recent days more than one site has been removed from venues where people seek news. Steem is highly resistant to censorship, and the ability to reach an audience depends on being able to publish.
Given that better funded entities than Russia exist, RT may be strongly incentivized to capitalize on Steem's censorship resistance, rather than competing on an uneven playing field to fund DNS service, suffer removal from other platforms, and other such shenanigans. Nations are presently embarking on an extraordinary journey to closely limit the information their subjects are able to consider. RT is content that some nation's agents would strongly prefer was not available.

I hope you will cover cryptocurrency related news on RT like Bitcoin and even Steem + Steemit Inc.
I highly recommend that RT invests in Steem and convert it to Steem Power. A position of 1 Million + SP would be a force to reckon with and would supply constant marketing on the Steem blockchain without having to spend any of your investment! 😊👍

Maduro, nor Chavez did those things. Both Chavez and Maduro were elected by Venezuelans - while Guaido was not. Neither was Trump. How is protecting the nation of Venezuela from rapine Western financial interests a) RT's fault, or b) something Steem should feel disgraces us because we find it good that an influential media organization has decided to open an account here?

"Economic warfare" LOL. If you knew in first place the real reason why Venezuela does need to import EVERYTHING nowadays... 30 YEARS AGO IT WAS NOT LIKE THIS. Mostly every first necessity article were produced in Venezuela and exported. Nowadays Venezuela has to import even the toilet paper.... We even have to sell vrude petrol to the US, have it refined into gasoline (because the refineries were seized by the government and filled with unskilled operators who havent been able to keep up with the production requirements, and I know this because I know many of these people who are now employed at the petroleum industry in Venezuela) and then we buy it back from the US at US prices to sell it at a loss to the Venezuelan people who want to fill their cars with gasoline...
We are sitting on the world's biggest Petroleum reserves, we have gold, bauxite, silver, diamond mines even uranium and so forth. But the misery is all around. Why? BAD MANAGEMENT.
I don't rely on mass media or manuals to tell reality. I see the facts. Facts like those mentioned above, or the fact that 4 million Venezuelan have emigrated from the last 20 years. The fact that even pro-government Venezuelans are leaving the country in search of a normal life

Rampant censorship is creating existential threats to free people, and while you won't read that I consider you the cure, you are part of the cure: diversity, decentralization, and independent sources of information. Clearly, you have an agenda, but since that agenda is different to other media I have access to, I am availed of information that enables me to expand my understanding and grasp of issues you treat, or even only peripherally impact.
In this day and age of state-sponsored terrorism, that may well be life-saving. Too few people grasp that not having good information can not only kill you, it can kill your whole family, community, and entire nations.
