@holoz0r I am a little late to the conversation. Thank you. I made this community to talk about art and this post and conversation doing just that.
I have thought a lot about what is art and what has some people's art known and in museums and someone's art something only them a few others ever see. Those could be two other really good discussions. Back to the topic at hand- Art as a threat. Art is so powerful, it can be a threat and it can be a comfort. I appreciate (don't always understand) the many artists that have pushed the bounds of what was acceptable, at the time, and that made many people uncomfortable to create what was in them. I also really enjoy art that is made to bring peace and comfort.
It is never too late to talk about Art!
Visual Art, just like novels, music, sports and every other part of the cultural tapestry - has something for everyone.
They just need to find what speaks to them. I love art that critiques society, and it doesnt all have to be urinals or fruit stuck to gallery walls.
Sometimes the critique is hidden in the most delicate and beautiful oil paintings.
