NFT Breaking News #36 - Normies &Del Mundos Are Heating Up My Astral Chests
Let’s make NFTs great again! I’ve been writing a lot lately about digital art, Web3 culture, and especially the developments around the Spaace NFT marketplace.
It’s been exciting to follow how the platform is evolving and how creators are finding new ways to showcase their work in the ever-changing NFT ecosystem.
But while diving into all that, I realized I’ve been neglecting one of the series that actually helped build my reputation in the space. The NFT Breaking News articles are back!
I remember the golden days when the WAX blockchain was trending and the community was buzzing with new drops, crazy mint numbers, and late-night trading sessions!
Those were the time when those articles were some of the crowd’s favorites. They became a bit of a trademark for me ... with sharp updates and a pulse check on what was happening across the NFT universe.
Then as often happens in crypto... things shifted. DeFi opportunities started popping up everywhere, the grind intensified, and hustling for yields and opportunities basically staged a hostile takeover of my attention.
Between farming, flipping, and exploring new projects, the NFT Breaking News series slowly faded into the background. But the NFT world never really stops moving.
I am trying to make NFTs great again on Spaace! The tournaments there are basically trading competitions where users climb a leaderboard by buying NFTs during a limited event.
Instead of simply collecting NFTs, traders compete based on their total buy volume, which turns marketplace activity into a kind of game. The Spaace events feature prize pools of $50,000.
The highest-ranked participants can earn several thousand dollars, while the rest of the rewards are distributed across dozens of leaderboard spots. PVM got ranked in all epochs so far!
On top of the cash prizes, traders also gain XP that helps them progress through the platform’s Battle Pass system, unlocking chests, loyalty rewards, and increasing their eligibility for airdrops.
The Spaace hustle goes on! Ranked 32nd on the 8th tournament and hopefully adding another $1000 in the bag! I must admit I like the dynamics, as I can grind while buying PFPs!
I recently spent 700 XP on the MWX loyalty portal to grab two tickets for the Astral Chests, hoping to land some juicy rewards when they open. Their campaign was decent TBH!
Moments like these remind me that the ecosystem still has that same thrill ! I missed the mix of speculation, strategy, and a little bit of luck. Let's see what the chests have in it!
So maybe it’s time to revive the NFT Breaking News series and start documenting the chaos, the opportunities, and the stories from the NFT trenches again.
At the same time, some of my new NFT holds are starting to wake up again. My Normies and Del Mundos NFTs have been pumping nicely, which is always a satisfying sight after holding through the quieter periods.
It’s a good reminder that patience in this space can sometimes pay off in unexpected ways. And if there’s one thing this space never runs out of… it’s breaking news.
I’m now a proud holder of Normies and Del Mundos PFPs, and it’s time to put them in the spotlight! The Del Mundos is a fresh and funky collection on Ethereum, just like Normies.
What makes it special is that every character started in the real world—hand-crafted from upcycled scraps, paper, and found objects—before being photographed and turned into an NFT.
With 10,000 unique handmade characters, the collection has a collage-style charm that typical computer-generated NFTs simply can’t match. And yeah… I now own four of them!
Then I jumped into the Normies arena, and these little pixel warriors are something else. Normies is a collection of 10,000 fully on-chain 40×40 monochrome pixel faces living forever on Ethereum.
The fun comes from the PvP mechanics! You burn a Normie to unlock edit powers, tweak others, and battle on the grid. I grabbed 10 from the market, watched the floor climb, and ended up 12× up already.
