I spent the early part of Friday attending a funeral at Umuahia, precisely Umuezike Ofeme, Umuah North LGA. It was for a colleague’s mother-in-law, and we were there - colleagues, friends, and well -wishers, to stand with the bereaved, to say final goodbyes to their departed one.
It was a smooth ride, and we got there just before the funeral service began. However, nothing prepared me for the sight before me: the venue was on a hillside! A hill? Gosh! Honestly. I didn’t even know some parts of Umuahia were built like this — up, not just flat. Nature is incredible!
A look at the hill, and I was taken aback, wondering how I was going to make it up there. When it comes to hills, please count me out. I can't deal. Lol. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to get myself up there, by all means. Lol.
So I braved up and began the climb. Little by little, one step at a time, I managed to climb the hill, panting, and when I finally got there, I let out a long sigh of relief. Mission accomplished. Next is the descent!
After the funeral service, and her remains was taken to where she'll be committed to mother earth, I did what I always do when I visit a place - I looked. And when the view opened up over the horizon, asking to be kept, I had to bid its request.
So, I pulled out my phone and captured it. And it wasn't just the view, but the feeling. The surprise of finding a hill. The way beauty shows up in the middle of hard days, and more.

The surprise of finding that unexpected hill and the breathtaking horizon at the top truly captured the beauty of nature's resilience. It's as if the stunning view was a comforting gift after such a challenging climb.
You're right. I was glad I captured the view. Thank you.
