Putting in the daily effort

I'm still plugging away at getting articles made and trying to keep them interesting. Wrote a couple articles about investing. Wrote a couple of general articles but one article sticks out a little bit.

Surge stops paying dividends

I was looking at an account that holds a considerable amount of $SURGE tokens and noticed that there was no weekly HBD payment. That was surprising because it always paid out like clockwork every Monday. Then a Monday got missed so I looked a little closer. That's when I found out that the $SURGE token people cancelled the HBD payout so they could use that HBD to support the value of the coin instead. It was disappointing when I didn't get any liquid HBD and won't likely get any in the near future.

Not surprising considering how weak HIVE has become but still. Depressing nonetheless.

HELIOS

My HELIOS goal is hereby suspended because sometimes things change. In my case I was collecting HELIOS because it was being distributed daily when HP was delegated to @helios.voter . I was hoping that by building HP and delegating it through the year I could amass a considerable hoarde of HELIOS tokens. 1000 HELIOS didn't seem unrealistic because at the time that was only about 170 HIVE in equivalent value.

But things change

HELIOS has hit its mint cap. Delegators were given a portion of the daily mint of HELIOS when they delegated but once the printing press ran dry the distribution stopped. Sure, the @helios.voter still pays a very good weekly dividend in HIVE at just over 13% but without the daily liquid HELIOS I'm not going to be able to reach my goal.

Making it even harder is the fact that HELIOS has risen considerably since the end of printing. Those tokens that were trading at 0.170 Hive / HELIOS are now trading at 0.472 Hive / HELIOS. The price has almost tripled since last week. With the price going up so quickly and the token becoming more scarce as it is burnt daily I think trying to acquire 1000 of the token is kind of a bad idea.

GLD Owed

The Great Little Dragon community is still a work in progress. However, one item that was being considered was to upvote content with the expectation that users pay back the value of the upvote by holding an equivalent amount of GLD coins. The idea being : The community supports you and you support the community.

The book keeping required wouldn't scale well though. Just looking at one person daily became a chore and if there were ever more people it would be daunting. Instead the community took a different approach. For those members who make good posts in the community forum they will receive upvotes. @hiveabbyftp will upvote that content appropriate for the community. Good posts will have the @helios.voter called in for a burnt HELIOS or two to show appreciation. For good posts that delegate to @hiveabbyftp and hold $GLD tokens they will receive stronger upvotes :)

That seemed more scalable and there is now no "borrow" component to the wording.

GLD held / EDSI tokens / Off Chain investments

I'm getting closer to getting this started. I increased my GLD holdings to 882 so I'm only just over 100 coins away from 1,000 ($10 HBD) and that seems like a good time to move money off chain to invest. Once off chain investments start paying dividends? I think it is a great idea to bring money back into HIVE and put onto the EDSI coin. One EDSI is roughly equivalent to ONE Hive and it pays a weekly payout just by holding it.

PROVIDING EDSI doesn't cancel dividend payout like HSBI did, I expect to see EDSI as how much value I brought back onto the chain. The dividends from the real world accounts will come back also but hopefully just to increase GLD holdings so I can complete the loop even faster next time :)

Overall thoughts?

I still have a long ways to go. HELIOS is no longer a focus. HP is coming along nicely and I'm about a quarter of the way to my goal. GLD is working its way higher but I think it will get cashed out to purchase real world investments and the GLD crew aren't looking at interest any more, they are more pursuing a you help us and we help you approach

Slow and steady wins the race and I'm just adding a few posts, getting some upvotes and making a little nest egg for the future.

Thanks for dropping by and taking a look.
