Isopod - Draw a bug
Todays bug of the day is the ISOPOD. Which I learned is in fact not technically a bug but in fact a crustacean.

However I'm considering them an honourary bug becuase I have called them pill bugs my entire life. I've also learned that some people call them doodle bugs which is just adorable and I love it.
The first step of this artwork was to get the oversall shapes in place, which meant the greenery it's on, and the shape of the bug, it's plates and the cute little antenes.

The next step was filling in some blocking for the base colours. I do this becuase it makes it easier to see the values and tones when working on smaller parts. I also refined the shapes some. The grey is to also make sure I colour in colours and don't have green peeking through.

Then I started working on the colouring and shading each segment at a time. It took a bit of work to get it so the highlights didn't just look like spots but I think I got it.

More segments

Then the antena. Which is a word I have a weirdly hard time spelling.

And the cute little legs

And then it was just a matter of messing around to get a background that I think suited.

And heres the process gif

Thank ya for reading, and if you have a bug you'd really like me to draw drop a name below!
Damn that's pretty! You did the light reflection so well, my brain was telling me I was looking at a actual picture before my eyes read the draw a day 👌
Aww thank you! Getting the light right really helps sell the solidity of an artwork so it's awesome to know I got it good :)
