Valkyria Chronicles 4 [Let's Play] - 01 - Dairy of Claude Wallace

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a strategy with a unique turn-based battle system! Set in the same time-frame as the first game in the series, this time we're following Squad E of the Atlantic Federation, pushing into Empire territory during Operation Northern Cross. Same war story, new cast of characters!

The watercolor aesthetic is back and still gorgeous!! Some parts of the game are set in snowy battlefields that make everything look even prettier.

Squad E has Claude Wallace commanding tanks, Riley Miller handling explosives, and Raz who charges headfirst into everything. I got attached to them fast, even though I kept save-scumming whenever someone got hit because permadeath is still here and I'm not losing my favorite sniper!

VC4 improves on the battle system by introducing direct commands mechanic that squeezes extra movement out of units, and a new Grenadier class that allows bombing from afar. I still end up rushing enemy bases with scouts... Though this new class really helps!

I wanted to play this ever since finishing the first game and I'm glad I finally got to it! I warmed up to this new cast of characters quickly. You can watch my playthrough below:
