Let's Play "Wretched Depths" - Part 1 of 3
I first heard of Wretched Depths in a video that recommended good Free games on Steam, and I liked the premise: A creepy fishing game in a mysterious setting with various horror-themed fish to catch!
The gameplay is on the easy side. I'm glad the fishing in this game doesn't require quick reflexes. The game loop is simple: You just use your RV to go fishing at the lake, and at the end of the day go to the town to sell fish. ... Except, there's something off every step along the way.
What appealed me the most about this game is how mystery surrounding the whole area. When I first went fishing, I saw another fisher drown in the lake... Soon after my first fish, I started catching mutated fish, and the protagonist treats all of this casually...
Trying to sell a mutated fish to the store fails, he won't take them. But there's a creepy man on the other side of the street that would pay a lot for them. At night the radio goes static... It only gets creepier from then on... I finished the main game in 3 sessions, and you can watch one below:
