Digimon Survive [Let's Play] - 53 - Finale: "Harmonious Route" Ending

I finally finished the game and reached the credits!!! Don't worry though, I plan on keep playing until I reach an ending I save everyone! So, I'll take a break for a while, then start the second route!

Digimon Survive is a Digimon Visual Novel with Turn-based strategy battles. The game follows a group of children who find themselves in another world, and their desperate attempts to find a way back home. The children find themselves involved with monsters, both as partners and enemies.

This is the darkest piece of Digimon media I ever consumed, and Cybersleuth had pretty dark stuff too. Digimon Survive fuses the concept of Digital Monsters with Japanese folklore. It's amazing how the idea of "child sacrifice" integrates seamlessly with Digimon lore. The specific Digimon they choose for this game enhance this theme.

Digimon Survive is the closest modern entry to the old school Digimon anime vibes. Though, more than the earlier Digimon anime series, the game reminds me more of Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. In that series too, characters may die depending on your actions.

53 - Harmonious Route Ending

This is the final session of my first playthrough. After training for hours to power-up my under-leveld Digimon. I'm finally able to defeat Boltboumon's final form. I love that our friends have destroyed him from the inside, giving us an opening to inflict the final blow!

But as he was losing, Boltboumon managed to create a gate to the human world and make it solid. Now, anyone from either world can come and go...

Takuma, Minoru, Aoi and Saki decide it's up to them to bridge the humans and digimon from the two worlds together... After all, they have bonded with their partners!

In the end, Takuma narrates what happens in the following months. The world has descended to chaos, and children who have bonded with Digimon were seen as different and "bad omen." Takuma and his friends are now part of a research institution to find these children and teach them how to bond with their digimon so they don't harm themselves or others.

This was the "Harmonious Route" ending, and I love it. The game told me that to save everyone I have to raise the affection of Ryo, so I'll be doing that in the next run. Thanks for sharing this journey with me.
