RE: Foreshadowing Myth
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
I think great artists suffer greatly from imposter syndrome. I see it in my wife, who is a pianist, composer, and writer, and is always fighting against self-sabotage due to being overly critical of herself. I am unfamiliar with Barthes' work, but I have heard his name mentioned, and now your text has made me want to delve deeper into it. Anyway, I wish you every success with your projects! Be sure to report on the Myth screening event!

I dabbled in the piano for about 18 months too, took lessons for a year. It is there. I try to be a renaissance man as much as I can be. I find that no matter how praise is heaped upon me (or my work) I dismiss it as people being too kind and not overly honest with me. I expect scathing critique at every turn.
I am waiting for some of the customers of the venue to leave so I can hang the last four pieces!
Barthes is pretty hard to read. He's very dense, but it is very worth it.
