I haven't seen a Singer for years - I had a hand and treadle one when I was younger. Their body is always so elegant! And the lovely decoration.
Look forward to seeing the results when you get to test runs. My recollection is that the stitching was always perfect 😎

Thank you ! They are amazing machines, and the quality of engineering just can't be matched nowadays. Modern sewing machines might have lots of gadgets and frills, but they're plasticky and nasty - it's crazy that Singers that have been around for nearly a century give a better stitch.
Sooner or later I'll get around to repairing and refurbishing the old 99K hand-cranked one I've got, and my first 201K will still be used for lighter fabrics - it's a bit tatty because I got it from a chap who ran a business making saris, so it had pretty constant use for decades and needed some work to get it going again.
Lovely, thank you for the background as well, really useful reference information. One day (!), I might look around for a hand machine. There was something very soothing about using one of those. I had a lot of accessories, I didn't think they'd be any use to anyone, but I put them on freegle and a woman came round the next day for them. I was pleased about that, saving them from the recycling centre.
