That sounds like a pretty common but annoying issue on the Z650. Carb/fuel leaks are usually down to a worn float needle, gasket, or a stuck float, so it’s good you’re tackling it early before it gets worse. I’ve seen a few similar cases where people either rebuild the carb or just replace the seal set completely to sort it properly. If you’re unsure where exactly the leak is coming from, it might be worth getting a quick expert opinion — I’ve heard some riders use JustAnswer to get mechanics to point them in the right direction before stripping everything down.
