I Certainly share your passion for history. And despite being widely, generally, generically and nondescriptly labeled and English, I am actually not. I am Scottish (I am a Taylor by Birth Right - With Tartan colours and all!), Scandinavian and Germanic in my family tree. Also, the English were assholes. Although, if I ever get Bull Dog, it's name would HAVE to be Winston. Lol. But really, I have l always adored history, from my school days and beyond.

Thank you ! Yep, definite assholes, us English 😁 I've got a theory about it, dating back to at least the Neolithic age. For millennia, England was the final destination, the place where endless waves of migrants washed up from the East and the survivors of previous folks made their last stand, to be wiped out, absorbed, or survive. The Celts survived but were pushed to the fringes, the Small Dark People and Beaker Folk were less lucky.

But eventually, the mix produced a people who were tough enough and aggressive enough to be able to fight off the invaders, and after a few thousand years learned to push back. They kept pushing back until they made the map pink with the British Empire and red with the blood of the people they conquered. Or at least the ones they conquered with warfare. A lot of the time, it was perfidious cunning, duplicity and money 😀 Steeleye Span's "Rogues in a Nation" sums it up nicely.....
